Tomb of the 6th Earl, swag of pomegranates
A bunch of fruit, believed to be pomegranates, displayed on the tomb of the 6th Earl of Rutland
Neil Fortey
This beautifully carved alabaster swag of pomegranates decorates the ornate tomb of the 6th Earl. This fruit is seen on other Manners tombs in the chancel, and must have had a symbolic significance.
