Canon and Mrs Blackmore's family by the Rectory Porch
Mr Stanley Blackmore writes: “My eldest brother Rodney, my sister Nancy, my brother Courtenay and myself just after VJ Day (hence the flags). Rodney, who ended up as a Major in the Royal Artillery had just arrived from Burma. Nancy had been working in London. Courtenay had just returned from Hong Kong as a lieutenant in the RNVR. I was nearing the end of my time at Oakham – and seemingly hadn’t yet learnt to take my hands out of my pockets!” The location is the paved area in front of the front porch of the Rectory: both porch and paving were removed during conversion of the building into retirement flats in 1989.
