Mr and Mrs Pepper used to live at The Green, just two doors up from Holly Cottage. They only moved to the school house after the school closed. Mrs Pepper used to cook the school dinners at the school on an Aga stove which was in a partitioned-off area in the main hall. The partition was removed when there was a gathering for a Xmas party and the like.
All age groups in the school were taught in the same class room which was heated by a pot belly coke burning stove.
