Roman Coins from Leicestershire: the Terrible Tales They Tell
July 20, 2017 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Bottesford Community Library, The Old School, Bottesford
A talk and exhibition by Bottesford’s Phil Harding.
Bottesford Community Library, Thursday July 20th, doors open 7 pm for a 7.30 start, pre-booking advised
Dr Phil Harding from Bottesford (not the Time Team one!) has found and recorded over 1,500 Roman coins from Leicestershire. They were lost or left behind during the occupation of Britain almost 2,000 years ago, and they give fascinating clues to the local history of our county. Archaeology is about people, and the details preserved on the coins takes us into the turbulent and often gruesome human world of the Emperors who shaped Britain.
£3 pay at door, under-18s free (proceeds to support Bottesford’s Community Library)
