My father Ted Shipman was editor of the parish newsletter called "The Cross and Stocks" and clerk to the PC for some years. I used to deliver the newsletters in Muston. This was in the time when Basil Hodgkinson was chair of the Parish Council. Frank Wilkinson was also a stalwart member. I regret to say a complete collection of the newsletters was disposed of in 1997 - or did I give them to Ken Greasley - I can't remember. Congratulations on this very good website. I have a lot of 35mm colour slides of Bottesford taken by Ted and Mollie Shipman between 1960 and 1997 and I am sure some of these might interest you. I will attempt to sort them out when time permits.

We are glad you like the site and would be very grateful for any photographs you can find. We have most, though not all, of the Cross and Stocks and also your father's guide to the church. We have been told that the now famous Robert Harris contributed to the Cross and Stocks. Do you know if there is any truth in this? We hope to produce an article on village newspapers in the future which will feature articles, adverts and illustrations from the Cross and Stocks. Can we contact you for advice?

I was born in Bottesford in 1928 and my daughter, Barb, has worked very hard to research our family lines there over the years and found we were from about 1597. We did have the website for the Village Voice but now it says it is a dead link. Is it possible to get the link again please?
