Stan Robinson

Stanley Bernard Robinson was born in 1923, educated at Bottesford School, married Vera Thurlby from Denton. He was employed by the London North Eastern Railway as a Fireman, then by British Rail as Steam Locomotive Engineer / Driver and as a Diesel Locomotive Engineer / Driver.

As a Fireman, Stan assisted the Steam Locomotive Engineer pulling the Royal Train carrying Princess Elizabeth, the Duke of Edinburgh, and Prince Charles and Princess Ann from King's Cross to Grantham.

Sidney Robinson

Sid Robinson, born in 1899 at Easthorpe, Bottesford, married Eva May Leese. Their children were Stan, Sid, Ivan Richard and Patricia.

During the 1st World War, Sid served with the Durham Light Infantry Regiment from 1914 until 1920. Sid was also on the Railway as a Signalman between Bottesford and Normanton. Post retirement, he was employed as the Normanton Village Postman.

George Bainbridge was employed as a fireman with the LNER Company and British Railways and assisted the Locomotive Engineer pulling the Royal train from Grantham to Edinburgh relieving the Locomotive Engineer and fireman Stan Robinson
