*
It is December 21st, the shortest day. November saw unusually early snows across the UK, and now December has added another spell of prolonged Arctic conditions. So far, our area has been lucky in that we have not yet seen the return of snowfalls, but even so the temperatures have been phenomenally low, for this part of the world, over several days. Trees are coated with hoar-frost which does not melt during the day. The River Devon is frozen over. Snow is forecast in two days time, just in time for Christmas Day. Through the chill, Bottesford folk remain cheerful and resilient.
