Born in 1900 Arthur Taylor volunteered under age in 1917. From a family with a butchery business and being used to working with animals he worked with horses in France. As necessity required, they would butcher and eat horse meat.

Arthur Taylor survived. He continued in the butchery trade and the family business continues today at The Cross, Market Street, Bottesford.
