The Corner House, Easthorpe Lane, c.1920
A post card picture of the Corner House, which still stands on the bend in Easthorpe Lane where it enters the old hamlet. The lane is not tarred. A young man in sailor’s uniform and a girl, probably his sister, are seen middle distance standing at the junction with Muston Lane.
The date is provisionally given as circa 1920, but there is a good chance the picture was taken during the First World War or earlier.

Where the people are standing and to the left is the lane to Muston. l cycled this every school day for four years. We didn’t come in the pickup area for school buses to Bottesford. The only school bus was the one to Melton, so they got more days off in the bad winter weather.
