Poetry Pathways Aug 16th, and A Request for Memories and Stories of Bottesford in W.W.II

Live Poetry Event Aug 16th 2007, and seeking for stories on War time Bottesford

Does anyone have any memories of living in war-time Bottesford? Or have older relatives/friends told you any stories of what it was like? I am particularly interested in what it was like for women, and also any recollections of the impact of having the airfield nearby. Were there any war-time romances? What was the social life like? Is it true what they say about American soldiers?

  • Live Poetry in Bottesford

Sue Mackrell, a Leicestershire poet, is to lead a Poetry Pathways event in Bottesford on August 16th, 7 to 9 pm, starting from Bottesford library. This is part of a project coordinated by Kerry Featherstone for Leics CC. We are told that tickets costing £3 can be obtained from Bottesford library. Sue’s group of intrepid local poets will visit Bottesford church and other locations to read their work, and afterwards there will be refreshments at the library. Fresh air and culture! Who said nothing happens in Bottesford? ### Bring a brolly.
