Albert Asher:Winifred Bass
Images from the collection of Winifred Bass whose uncle Albert Asher was a 2nd Lieutenant with the Leicestershire Regiment 1/2 and 1/5 Battalions during the 1st World War. The son of James and Annie Asher, of Bottesford, Leicestershire, he was killed in action aged 25 in an early morning engagement in the village of Pontruet, France, on the 24th September, 1918. His grave is in the Cerisy-Gailly Military Cemetery.
