Bridget Blair from BBC Radio Leicester recorded material at the Bottesford Primary School for the BBC World War One at Home stories.
Year 3 and 4 Primary School pupils presented short stories describing the ways in which school children from Bottesford coped with the consequences of the war and the impact it had on their lives. They also recorded songs from the period.
Their stories used material from research on the Bottesford School Log Book prepared by members of the Bottesford Parish 1st World War Centenary Project. This 1st World War Centenary Project has received an award from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The BBC’s World War One At Home series ‘reveals how the momentous events of the war affected life on the Home Front. Around 1400 stories will be broadcast throughout 2014 and beyond, on BBC local and national radio and television, and online.
