2.Belvoir Road looking towards Market Place c. 1920
3.Belvoir Road from the junction with High Street c. 1930
4.New flats erected behind the building in picture 3.

Picture 1 shows Belvoir Road before the further expansion of the village after W.W.1.  Dave Middleton identifies these houses as Linden Lodge and the Edwardian house next to it, now just before the junction with Silverwood Road. Can anyone add information about the other pictures, or add more pictures of Belvoir Road?

  • I may have a mistake in my notes.  Was Belvoir Road or Belvoir Avenue the new name of Mill Lane (1841 census)?  Does anyone know when the Mill itself was dismantled?  Thank you.

  • Mill lane is now Belvoir Avenue. I am not sure when the actual mill was demolished. Jill Bagnall identified many of the houses along the south side of Belvoir Avenue as being associated with the Mill. They can be seen in the aerial photograph of Howitt’s Nursery

  • Thank you. I wonder if anyone knows the history of the old house on Belvoir Avenue (about the third one on the street)? I can email a photo of it. I was only there long enough to take the picture and have no idea of the age of the place. Could this be a house that was standing in 1841 (census)?
