Bottesford Cross, Stocks and Schoolhouse
This picture shows Bottesford’s Market Cross (probably late 13th or early 14th Century), truncated, and beside it the C18th stocks and whipping post. In the background, across Grantham Road, is the building of the village school (1855) which was superseded in 1960 by the opening of Belvoir Secondary School (now Belvoir High School) and a few years later by Bottesford CE Primary School. The village school taught all ages from infants to 14 year olds.
