Barkestone Photographic Week, 2007, and a Monkey Puzzle Mystery

Where is the house and monkey puzzle tree in the first picture?

Ancetors of Fred and Gwen Musson, 1890s - but where was it taken?
The exhibition at Barkestone-le-Vale
Part of the family chart for the entire village of Barkestone.

October 13-20th saw the week-long 2007 Barkestone-le-Vale Photographic Exhibition. Filling the nave of the parish church, this display of a ‘family tree’ for an entire village, together with a vast village photo archive going back to the Victorian era, censuses and lots more, was astonishing. What’s more, it is largely the work of one person, Sheila Marriott, supported by friends and fellow villagers. If you didn’t see it, look out for it next time around in 2008.

However, sometimes the place shown in an old photograph can be difficult to identify. Sheila Marriott has asked if anyone can identify the house in this old photograph, which she believes may be in Bottesford. Please contact us if you have any information.

The other two pictures give a flavour of the size and detail of the display.
