SEARCHING FOR SAXON SECRETS – THE GOLD BEAN MYSTERY

A talk and display by Phil Harding.

Phil has been metal detecting and supporting archaeological investigations for 30 years, with more than 3,000 finds recorded through the Portable Antiquities Scheme.  Dogged detecting in a farmed Leicestershire valley has shown how intense Roman activity died away before re-settlement in the dark ages.  Beautiful Anglo-Saxon metalwork gives clues to this puzzling period in our history, including a mysterious golden bean!

In the Parish Room, The Old School, Grantham Road, Bottesford NG13 0DF, 7.30 pm.

No need to book, entry £6 at door (Local History Society members £4), children free.
