Bottesford Scarecrow Trail and Photo Gallery, 2008
June 14th and 15th, Father's Day weekend
By Neil Fortey and Chris Baines
Friends of Bottesford Primary School, ably assisted by the Vale of Belvoir Lions and Sponsored by Paul’s Restaurant, held the 2008 Scarecrow Trail over the weekend of June 14th and 15th.
All in all, it was another first class weekend. Though not as sunny as in 07, the rain and wind kept off, and the scarecrows were all very good, testimony to the wealth of talent we have in our village.
Click the link at the bottom of this page to see Chris Baines’s gallery of all 33 scarecrows – this is an Adobe pdf file, so you need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open it (this is a free download from the Adobe website, and well worth having).
Visitors toured Bottesford, Easthorpe and Normanton to see for themselves, while the judges, selected for their skill and experience, deliberated in a darkened room before coming to pick the winners.
Back at the Primary School, a good time was had by all, until 4 o’clock arrived and a hush descended as the annoucements were made. First the raffle winners, and then down to the real business, as five Runners Up were given their awards before the overall winner was declared, ‘Old MacDonald’ by Little Jacks Farm and Garden Centre, Orston Lane.
