Year 1 (Autumn 2014 – 2015)
‘Mobilising’ – people and memory
- project launch meeting including if possible period brass band music (Muston Brass Ensemble)
- monthly project coordination meetings, volunteer recruitment and training
- upgrade website and online catalogue
- conserve the Chapel Roll of Honour
- research biographies of those listed on the Bottesford and Muston war memorials (40 killed of the approximately 220 who served)
- research biographies of those who served (approximately 180 who survived),
- record and transcribe family and local memories
- collect and record on-line catalogue entries for local memorabilia (eg., photographs, letters and objects, news reports and obituaries from Bottesford and Muston reported in local newspapers 1914-1918)
Plan and draft book:
- ‘Bottesford and Muston War First World War Memorial Biographies’,
1st exhibition ‘Mobilising the Parish’
- ‘Meet local volunteers’- Heritage Walk (Scouts)
- ‘Home comfort boxes’ display (Guides)
Re-enact:
- ‘muffled’ commemorative bell peal (Bottesford Bell Ringers)
- WW1 song and music concert (U3A Vale of Belvoir Choir)
Publish
- WW1 local heritage trail (Scouting movement)
- 1st Belvoir High School WW1 newsletter using reports and obituaries from Bottesford and Muston reported in local newspapers, 1914-1918
- bi-annual project update bulletins and noticeboard displays
- regular facebook posts and twitter feeds
- web page biographies of those named on the Bottesford and Muston war memorials
- book – ‘Bottesford and Muston War First World War Memorial Biographies’
- web page biographies of the 220 who served fro Bottesford and Muston
Year 2 (Autumn 2015 – 2016)
‘Bottesford at the front and at home’
- monthly project coordination meetings and volunteer recruitment
- display and rededicate the Chapel Roll of Honour
- provide resources for the Bottesford Primary School’s WW1 learning unit
- assist in organising the Bottesford Primary School ‘WW1 Activities Day’
- research biographies of those who served
- produce ‘Bottesford Primary School First World War Memories’ collected and illustrated by Bottesford Primary School KS2 pupils, including recordings of family and local memories
- collect and record on-line catalogue entries for local memorabilia (eg., photographs, letters and objects)
- research front line and home front activity (using newspaper archives and local school and parish records)
2nd exhibition ‘Front line and home front life’
Re-enact
- WW1 events at the May Bank Holiday Bottesford Fete,
Muston flower festival and WW1 Brass Concert ‘Peace and Commemoration’
- organising a re-enactment of a fund raising WW1 Brass Band Concert at Muston (Muston Brass Ensemble)
Publish:
- bi-annual project update bulletins and notice board displays, regular facebook posts and twitter feeds,
- web page biographies of the 184 named on the Bottesford WW1 Service List,
- 5 thematic web site sections on ‘Life on the Home Front’
