Michael Bradshaw is the son of Arthur Bradshaw. His father was the village police man in c.1950. Michael and his wife Liz had four children. They were among the group of villagers who set up the Bottesford Playgroup in 1966, using space in the former village school, now known as the Old School, on Grantham Road. In 1988 the Playgroup moved to a purpose-built room in the grounds of Bottesford High School, aided by headmaster Alan Reed. Stories abound that the new premises were designed, resourced and actually built by a group of villagers, underlining the self-reliance of the village.
The family took the plunge down under and emigrated to Adelaide in 1970. During a return trip in 1972 they were captured in photographs of the Playgroup reunion held at the home of Joy and John Simpson. This year, in 2025, Michael has been back in touch to send us pictures of the 1972 reunion and also of the ceremonial clock in Sydney whose dial is set in a sculpted surround created in Bottesford by Marcus Designs. He also pointed out that this year sees Michael and Liz at the milestone of 83 years of age – congratulations from us in Bottesford and thanks for your support of this website and your patience.
