John Bradshaw breaking ice on the River Devon in 1961

The scene shows the river upstream from Fleming’s Bridge in the winter of 1961/2. John Bradshaw is breaking the ice which has formed right across the stream. The picture pre-dates the building of the Wyggeston Road houses, and shows open fields where the houses stand today.
