Written down at around the end of the First World War, this note captured Tom Kirk’s life in Plungar. Tom Bonser Kirk was Dennis Kirk’s father. He was born in Plungar in 1889 and buried at St Helens on the 15th October 1971, aged 82.
“went to school at Plungar at 3 years of age […] pay 2d per week to the Teacher a Miss A Pell
[then] at the age of 7 to Barkestone School
left school at 13and a half works for my Grandfather for 6d a day
