Bob Sutton walking past Bottesford Church
Published on Friday 18th June, 1971 by the Grantham Journal, whose caption reads: “A summer day in a village lane. Enjoying a stroll at Bottesford in yesterday’s sunshine is 72-year-old Mr. B. Sutton with his dog Mandy. Mr Sutton was born in the Leicestershire village and has lived there all his life.”
Mr Bob Sutton and his dog are seen walking along Devon lane, Bottesford, with the tower and spire of St Mary’s parish church in the background.
Bob Sutton enlisted as a bugler with the Manchester Regiment in 1914 aged only 15, then served with the army throughout WW1 and the Army of Occupation in the Middle East where in 1920 he was taken prisoner and not released until 1924.
