Harvest time at Bottesford
Eve Marston, taking a rest during the hay harvest.
Janet Dammes
Four pictures showing the hay harvest at Bottesford one summer before the outbreak of the Second World War. In the first, a teenage Daphne Marston holds the harness of the farm horse. In the second, the horse is drawing a rake driven across the mown ground. The third shows a young man and two lads on the rake; the fourth shows the steam-powered threshing machine at work. Identification of the people is difficult.
