The coal shed
Next to the privvy was another sturdily built shed used to store the coal. When Sid Damms left, there was still a small amount of coal, in hefty lumps waiting to be broken up for the stoves. Without barge delivery or access for delivery by the merchant’s lorry, the Damms had to fetch their coal with their improvised hand trolley, which must have been hard work.
