Refuse dumped at the Lock House
Old bottles, cans and other refuse were dumped on a slope at one end of the Lock House site.

This picture shows that expanse of thrown out bottles and other ‘stuff’ beneath the trees on one side of the Lock House site. Without vehicle access or any passing canal traffic, there was little choice but to dump such materials where they wouldn’t get in the way, so that’s what was done. What could a historian have gleaned from going through this pile?
